Highpoint 66 Fashion Mall: A New Era of Shopping Experiences

Yan Lee's Award-Winning Design Fuses Shopping, Art, and Social Interaction

Highpoint 66 Fashion Mall, designed by Yan Lee, is a revolutionary shopping mall that aims to redefine the shopping experience. This innovative design, which won the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018, combines shopping, leisure, art, food, fun, and social integration in a unique and engaging way.

The inspiration for the mall's design came from the challenge of attracting more young people to offline consumption. Yan Lee and his team focused on creating a highly entertaining, experiential, and interactive commercial space. They extracted elements from popular anime, art, music, movies, and other topics that resonate with young people, combining them to create an intriguing space.

What sets Highpoint 66 Fashion Mall apart from other shopping malls is its focus on experience. The mall is designed in a minimalist retro style, using basic materials like cement, paint, and plain ceramic tiles. Beyond the hard decoration, the mall features a rich installation of art and soft display products, including a large number of plants, retro modeling lamp pipes, and various glass and wooden sculptures.

The mall is designed as a ring-shaped flow mall, allowing customers to freely explore the main channel from any of the four main entrances. This design encourages exploration and interaction, enhancing the overall shopping experience. The mall covers a total area of 11028 square meters, with the public space (the area decorated by Yan Lee's team) covering 2783 square meters.

The project, which started in July 2015 and was completed in April 2016, was based in Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, China. The design process involved extensive research into young people's fashion topics, social ways, business layout and consumer guidance models, commercial indoor light environments, and psychology. The team visited more than 40 domestic commercial projects and conducted numerous interviews and observations with the target population.

One of the main challenges faced by the design team was the richness and variability of young people's preferences. The team aimed to implant enough elements in a limited space to stimulate interest, while ensuring that these elements were cleverly fused and had a main line running through them. They also aimed to create a flexible and variable space that would remain vibrant and not become outdated within a few months.

In conclusion, Highpoint 66 Fashion Mall is a testament to Yan Lee's innovative approach to design. By focusing on creating an entertaining, experiential, and interactive space, Yan Lee has redefined the shopping experience, making it more engaging and enjoyable for young people. This design serves as an inspiration for future commercial projects, demonstrating the potential of combining shopping, art, and social interaction in a single space.
